Child me would have been scared due to the horror elements and thriller part of the movie, its goal to make button mum scary was actually achieved by each visit Caroline made. What I loved is how adult me enjoyed the ride with a clear perspective of my childhood. The things that I hated about my parents were not as big as they seemed at the time, for example, the refusal to buy me this particular dress I saw, or the same dishes every day. Caroline’s parents were always very busy, but I will credit her mum for actually listening without listening to her. Call it Deja vu, Laika Productions was still a baby in 2009, so Caroline was a good introduction, bringing something different from Disney or Pixar, the big guys by then.
Yes, I recommend Caroline, especially if you want a lazy watch, when you don’t want to use your brain and escape reality for a few hours.
